About Brazil, IN - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Located in Clay County, IN, Brazil has a population of nearly 8,000 residents. It is the county seat and is found within the Terre Haute Metro Statistical Area. This community was founded in 1866, and the county seat was relocated here in 1876 after the city experienced considerable development. In 1956, the country of Brazil gifted the city with the Chafariz dos Contos, a replica of the original fountain found in Ouro Preto, as a symbol of friendship. Notable residents of Brazil include labor organizer Jimmy Hoffa and popcorn tycoon Orville Redenbacher, and popular area events include the Brazil Rotary’s Annual 4th of July Festival and the Christmas in the Park Celebration.

There are several unique attractions located in Brazil. Shopping is popular at specialty shops, including Sugar’n Spice, the Old Fashion Jewelry Shop, and the Balloon-A-Wish Florist. Antiques are also available at Stuff N Things Antiques. The New Elegance Salon and Spa, Fiesta Salons, and Cutting Edge Hair Salon are also located in Brazil for visitors hoping for a new look. Golf is also a possibility in Brazil, with the Oak Ridge Golf Course and Forest Park Golf Course being located here.

The weather of Brazil is indicative of a humid continental climate zone. Winters tend to be cold, with high temperatures reaching the upper-30s. However, snowfall is low, and much of the region will only see about a foot of snow per year. Despite this minimal precipitation, conditions can still become dangerous, especially when overnight lows fall below the freezing point, so a heat pump or furnace will be essential. Likewise, summer conditions can also become dangerous for other reasons, as high temperatures in the 90s are perfectly common. High humidity can make the area even more uncomfortable, so it is crucial that residents have a cool place to retreat to with a central air conditioning unit in place.
